Big Girl Things

Well, my baby is officially 6 months old!! I know, it doesn't seem like 6 months has already gone by! And with P's half birthday comes many new "big" girl things that have all happened in just the last week or so...a little too many things at once if you ask her mama :) She is all over the place, scooting or almost crawling, she must have her daddy's military genes because she looks like she is low crawling. But, she can get to about whatever she wants! She is also pretty much sitting up on her own and gets stronger everyday. She is not able to go from laying to sitting, but is up on her side and trying very hard, as you can see from the pic.

We went to the Pediatrician and he gave the go ahead to finally start giving her some solids, but told us very sternly not to nurse her less because she really needs her calories. She is now 14.9 lbs (32 percentile) and 27 in long (79 percentile-it dropped a little) he suggested mixing cereal with juice but she didn't really like that, but I changed brands and we are mixing it with bananas and peaches so far. She really loves the bananas!! She is starting to get the hang of it and really opening her mouth, but is already very admit about trying to do it herself! so I have to be quick. We found out that the bumbo is getting to small, she tries to get out so we also started putting her in her big high chair. It is still a little small but she likes it.
Is this really suppose to be up my nose mom?

at church she is now out of the bumbo and is much more content in the big chairs. This is her and Evie graduating to the real chairs! ahhh feels like I just took her in there and she could barely sit in the bumbo!!

"watch mom, I can read too!! "
Mmmmm good!
I found these rice cake snacks called mum mum and they dissolve quickly and don't make much of a mess. I give them to her to occupy my very busy little girl and it gives us a chance to eat. she does not like us to eat in front of her. She watches us and gets mad because she can't do it to!

her big high chair!

we have caught her doing this a couple of times. She will be playing and then suddenly roll over and start watching tv. what is really funny is when she puts her feet up on the tv stand, she looks like she is just chilling out watching a movie!
The doctor said she looks good and is right on track. He wants us to try and up her milk intake and supplement with formula when needed. He commented on her high activity level again and said that could be why she is not weighing very much or eating every 2-3 hrs. He also said that might be why she is still not sleeping through the night (not enough volume intake). He said that as far as personality and activity she is at about a 9 month schedule! she is really wanting to move and be active which is getting increasing harder on us, especially when we are out and about. She has a way of throwing a tantrum when she doesn't get what she wants...can you say terrible 2's a year and a half early! haha I just can't believe how fast she is doing and how much she is suddenly able to do at once. Mom wanted to try and give her a sippy cup and I said not yet, too many things at once...I have to take this growing up thing a little slow! :)
here are a couple of pics of the UT/Bama game the other night...we were all decked out in our gear and had fun at Kay's

She really liked the way Kay's chair tasted...whatever works!

This is what happens when Daddy dresses you

So on most days, I lay out Presley's clothes, including socks so that Carl has no problems dressing her or making sure she is not wearing Thanksgiving socks in January. Well the other morning I woke up REALLY late, like 6:50 so I told Carl what I planned on dressing her in (remember is was only 30 degrees on Friday) and where to find it. He said he understood and no problem! Well this is what I found when I picked her up! He brought her to Mitzi's in her PJ's and this in her bag...blue pants onesie thin and almost capris, one pair of black pants, and her camo/pink cowboy boots, and the cap she came home from the hospital in with moons and stars on it! I was a little confused when I picked her up! haha well at least they stayed in that day and even played upstairs where it was warmer. My poor baby was cold! check out the pic!

"what was he thinking mom?"
now you might think the black pants didn't look bad but there was no top with them, he thought you could put them over the pants suit! LOL
When I asked him he said he looked everywhere for the clothes I was talking about, when I told him they were laundry basket of clean clothes waiting to be put up he was like "Ohhhhh!! did you say that?" "YES!!!" listening skills are not always his strong point! haha thought it was too funny, one day she will be old enough to tell him better

9 years!

Well, right now I am wishing I had a scanner so I could post a picture of the day Carl and I got married. Today is our 9 year anniversary! I can't believe it, time is passing so quickly. We were such babies when we met, fell in love, got married, and started our journey together. I realize how young we were when I look back at the pictures. I pull out the album every year. Carl had just turned 20 and I was 19. We started off in Hawaii and have had many journeys since then. I know that in the scope of our lives together 9 years is really just a ripple, but we have already been through so much and have essentially grown up together. This year we began a whole new journey, parenthood. It is by far the toughest but most rewarding! I am truly blessed to have Carl in my life. He is such a strong, constant, stable, and safe person to have by my side. I never have to worry and know that he is always there for me to lean on. He is a wonderful husband and a awesome father! I love him with all my heart and can't wait to see what the future holds for our lives. Again sorry no pictures our wedding was pre digital days! :)

Happy 29th Birthday Carl!!

Not only were we crazy busy with Christmas and all of its festivities each year Carl's Birthday and our Anniversary shortly follow. Yesterday was Carl's 29th B-day! I can't believe that I celebrated his 18th Birthday with him and now 11 yrs. later I am still celebrating! I am married to a wonderful man and great father!! Being so close to Christmas and New Years I always try to do a little something for him so he doesn't feel left out or forgotten. Yesterday Presley and I got him a balloon and his favorite choc. chip muffin from HEB and took it to him at work. Presley even made him a card (sorry no pic) and the whole family took him out to eat, his choice, Lubys?? not sure why :) Later at home I made him one of his favorite meals, spaghetti and meatballs and Josh came over and we opened presents and played the office DVD game. It was fun.

me and my sweetie...and yes, I broke out the party hats again ;)
Presley and Josh

Carl got two new DVDs and a pair of sunglasses that he had been wanting.

next year we will have to have a big blow out for his 30th!!
In other news Presley went for her 6 month appointment and everything is good but I will blog more about it later. I have done alot for one day. Also there are lots of new post below so please check them out.

Merry Christmas

This Christmas has been the busiest ever! I guess that is what happens when you have a baby :) But we had a wonderful time and spent lots of time with friends and family for Presely's first Christmas.

After a long drive home and a little sleep we headed off to our Christmas Eve festivities with Paula, Clayton, and Paula's family. They are so gracious to invite us over every year. We hadn't seen PK and Clayton in awhile and wanted to see them before they left for Egypt on Christmas Day to go see Taylor! I know they are having a great time! Here are a few pics of that.

Presley and Uncle Clay
Presley and one of her many gifts...she loves the hungry caterpillar.
Christmas morning Carl let me sleep in a little and got Presley fed and ready for opening presents! She really got into the gifts and toys, especially the wrapping! She would just reach and move up and down with her mouth open.

This is the best!! Too cute, waiting for mommy so we could open presents (see more about P and Molly in posts below)

our stocking, and yes that is a Benny Bear in mine!! That is a bear from Ben Bridge Jewelry who has a pocket on his tummy for your gift

"oh, oh let me help!"

"ohhhhh, that looks cool mom!"

"hello, who's there?" oh my she already has her own phone, but she still wants mine more...go figure!"

mmmmm, books taste good!

"hahaha I racked up!!!" my child is way spoiled already!! I love her little grin in this pic

Carl got his awesome new headlamp...he says you can never have enough flashlights!

the gift in my benny bear, it is a baby bootie made of white gold with diamonds and pink sapphires. It is beautiful!

After we did our Christmas we went to Mom and Dad's for lots more gifts, lunch, and some relaxing.

"would you people get done already?" this block doesn't taste as good as the food you get to eat!

her toy from Grammy and Pawpaw she was really into watching the animals go down and make noise.
For her big gift from mom and dad they got her her big girl carseat. She still has to face backward until a year but this one is a convertible. It is a little tall and hard to fit in the backseat turned around so we may get another or just keep this one and wait to use it until she is a year old.

hmmm this is different?

I think she likes it! Thanks Grammy and Pawpaw!!!

Snyder/Midland Family Christmas

The Friday before Christmas we all headed up to Snyder for the Scott Family Christmas. This year it was at Geoff and his new wife, Jessica's house. There were 26 people there total! Our family is just growing. This year my Granner turns 80 and for her birthday we all wanted to get together and have a big family picture taken, that poor photographer. It was definitely a challenge trying to get 2 babies and a toddler to all pay attention at the same time, but I think it turned out good! I didn't get too many pictures sorry but here are a few.

Miller checking out his doodle pad
Presley opening her new gift

Carl, Granner, and Presley the day we left...the snow was right behind us, too bad we missed it!!
On a sad note, Carl's Grandmother passed away in Midland on Sunday. He drove up early Thursday to see her and be with his mom. Presley and I drove up separately and met in Snyder. We attended her funeral on Wednesday before heading home. She was such a lovely lady and will be missed. However, due to the untimely event, it allowed us to see part of Carl's family that we were not going to get to see, his mom, Brother Eric, Minori, and their 3 girls. It was nice to see them and visit and allow all our girls to meet and play together! We also got to see his Uncle Randy who is recovering very nicely from his recent battle with cancer and Ashley who is about to have her baby boy fintan in just a few days!!

Kira and Presley

Miss Kana who never wants her picture taken

all of the girls, P, Megumi, Kira, and Kana

Afflack!!!

I was so nice to be able to stay a few extra days in Snyder and visit with my Granner after the "big" family Christmas get together. She really enjoys spending time with Presley and we really enjoy spending quality time with her. It is nice to just relax! While there we took a walk down to the town park, it is just a few blocks from the house. My cousin Abby and I use to go down there every year and feed the ducks. Well they are not ducks anymore they are HUGE LOUD geese! They reminded me of that Afflack duck on the commercial. We braved the cold wind, check out P's super cute doggie hat, (makes me laugh everytime) and headed down to the park. I got the cutest video...Presley's face is priceless!!

haha these things are funny!

"whoa that one's getting a little close mom!"
