stuff, stuff, and more stuff

Sorry, no pictures in this one, but scroll down for others. Just a few things I wanted to tell you all. For starters Tuesday Carl came home with a "surprise" now I was thinking it was something for me, or maybe Presley, but it was a new truck! A work truck that is, but it is brand spankin new, and has some really cool features. I know what you are thinking two new cars in one week! Yep! The neighbors probably think we hit the lottery. I am a little jealous though...his does everything mine doesn't and it has that new car smell! He liked his other truck and was hoping that he got to keep it, but this is his first new one and he really likes it.

Next, my grandmother is coming in October for a week and since we turned our extra bedroom into Presley's room we don't have anywhere for her to sleep. I was thinking about putting a day bed in the stamp/computer room and then I had a brilliant idea...I went to Ikea and that tends to happen. I thought a sofa bed (futon type) would be really cool. I decided to sell Carl on the idea by telling him P and I were planning a suprise for him...a man room. He informed me that a "man room" could not contain stamps!! Whatever, I am trying here...it's called give and take! haha All I have to do is tell him how much football he could watch and video games he could play in peace and I'm sure I will have him sold, stamps and all.

This leads me to the stuff part. My mom was planning a garage sale this weekend, which is turning out to be at my house and somehow I have managed to come up with quite a bit of stuff! I just had a garage sale in April! How is it that all of these new found things snuck up on me?? Oh well, hopefully we do well and I have cleaned out and reorganized some new stuff so that feels good!

I got Presley's photos and CD back and will post some of them this weekend. We are also deciding on announcements so we can finally send those out. Have a great weekend!!

My growing girl

We went to the doctor today. We changed pediatricians to one that is closer to us. He usually sees them at 8 weeks but since she hadn't been seen since 1 week they saw her a little early. We liked the office and the doctor and she is doing great. She has grown 2 inches and gained about 2 1/2 lbs. Her weight is now 9 lbs. 8 oz. and 22 inches. She is 6oth percentile for height and 30th for weight. So far like her daddy long and skinny! He said she was healthy and actually kind of heavy for a breastfed baby. He gave us some tips on scheduling her better and trying to get her to start sleeping through the night, so we will see if it works. As long as I don't hold her she is perfectly on schedule. But, when I do she wants to eat all the time...little piglet!! She also got 3 shots today. Carl held her this time! The worst part was before she got them she was peacefully sleeping, smile on her face and little dream nosies and then BAM! the shots and WHAAAA!!! what a way to wake up! I told the nurse she is glad she didn't bring out the pouty lip because it is killer, gets me everytime! She has done well today. I gave her tylonol and she has slept a lot, almost all day! Poor baby its tough being an infant!

I finally caught her smiling...she loves to be talked to and just smiles and coo's at you. I love it!
battle wounds! :(

new wheels

Well, the little clown car had to go...we were tired of being crammed in. It did not fit her seat very well and we couldn't take anything but her stroller with us. So, here are our new wheels!! We got a 2007 GMC Acadia and I love it! It is so nice and roomy. It is our first used car but in excellent condition and with many upgrades. It only had 20,000 miles which is almost unheard of in this area. We drove way up on the north side of Houston with intentions to buy a Tahoe, but ended up liking this better and to top it off we actually had a pretty painless and pleasent car buying experience. I highly recommend Beck and Masten! Now we just have to sell the vibe.
it is a dark matallic grey color...very pretty
chrome accents

leather seats and interior, only thing missing is a DVD and Carl wants to put one in later for little sweet PEA

split 2nd seats and full 3 third row that easy folds down...best part I still have room in the back for stroller or groceries with the third row up!

take your daughter to work week

I know they have that take your daughter to work day once a year, but we decided to extend it to the whole week. It is officially back to school time, and even though I am now officially on maternity leave until November :), I have somehow found it necessary to be a the school for some reason or another all week. I had to do a couple of inservices and then help plan and get my room ready with my sub. My principal is awesome and said that I was more than willing to bring pumpkin with me, so the first few days she came, and was quite popular among everyone! She did really well! But, she also stayed with friends a couple of times too so I could get some work done hands free. Everyone had fun getting to babysit. My list is growing longer and longer of people who want to keep her, so I guess that is a good thing! I am going to have to start finding things to go and do so they can keep her for a few hours! I met my new students and families today and they are cute! It went well after they started breathing again at the news that I was going to be out for 2 months. I introduced them to the sub and explained that I wouldn't be there right away and I could just see the fear and anxiousness in their faces and I am not talking about the kids! But oh well! One told me I could have planned that a little better, huh? I just smiled! We are going to have a good year either way...they're kids they adjust well! It will be interesting though!

The Smith's Come to town

I know, I have been a bad blogger, so let me catch you up! Last weekend our dear friends the Smith's came down from Wichita Falls to visit us...well actually more like Presley! :) Their girls hadn't been to the beach since we all lived in Hawaii, so we decided to take them to the majestic beaches of Galveston, the next best thing to paradise right? haha They loved it! It was actually a nice day and the water was some shade of blue. It was also Presley's first trip to the beach, yes yes I know some of you think we are crazy!! But, don't worry, we keep her quite shaded the whole time, except to dip her feet in the rather warm water. In fact it was so warm I could have given her a nice bath and she would have loved it! We all had a great time and enjoyed our quick weekend visit! I tried to talk the girls into living with us and being my live in nannies, but they still have school...oh well! They adorded Presley and were so good with her. I know there are lots of pictures but I just couldn't pick a few.

West Texas here we come

Carl's grandpa's 80th birthday was this past weekend, and since his uncle has just returned home after being treated for mouth cancer here in Houston we decided to go up and see them all and celebrate his big day. So Taylor, Carl, I, and Presley all loaded a plane and made a quick weekend trip. It was nice to be able to see all the family and let them meet Presely. His mom and grandmother also live there and they had not seen her yet either. She did great on the plane. I fed her as we boarded on the way, heading the advice of others and once she spit it all up on me, Carl, and herself she was good! On the way back we left really early and I fed her before we left and she slept the whole way home. I carried her in my new sling which is awesome and I love. I will definitely be using it more. It was nice to get out of the humidity and spend some time sitting on the porch in the evening. However, we spent most of yesterday recuperating due to the lack of sleep. Since she has been home I have not slept in the same room as her, and thank goodness we don't because we would never get any sleep! She is the noisiest sleeper I have ever seen. She constantly makes noise, squeeking and squaking. But we were all wiped I think because she and I took very LONG naps yesterday. Here are some pics from the weekend.

This was too funny!! makes me laugh every time I see it!! We went to Kemah to eat last night with Carl's family and we thought we would try out her glasses cause it was a little sunny. Needless to say she needs to grow into them a little more! haha
getting ready to leave...she looks like she is holding her breath!

"What are ya'll doing with me now??"

What an exciting month

Well I wanted to get this out on the 6th her official one month birthday, but obviously didn't happen. I can't believe our little sweet pea is already over a month old!! Everyone keeps telling me it goes fast and I am starting to figure that out real quick! Things are going great here and we are adjusting well. Thank you all for your thoughts, visits, and gifts, we are really enjoying our new baby girl. She goes to the new pediatrician Dr. Quillin in a little over a week and I am excited to see how she has grown! She is starting to be a lot more alert and even had her first smile last night! She loves PK's voice and was just smiling at her, I wish I could have gotten a picture but didn't have the camera. I am on a mission though to get one of her smiling. As I am writing this she is just squaking and talking to me, it is too funny! She had her first overnight sleepover at Grammy's last Friday night, Carl and I saw a movie and got some much needed sleep! I think Grammy would prefer her to live at her house and me visit when I could!! haha She also just got back from her first trip out of town and her first flight (see blog above for more). She did great! We have definitely haven't been sitting around because Mommy can't stand to sit around the house so every day we get out and do something. We like to walk around the mall (she is quite the little shopper...who'd a thought!) or go have lunch dates with friends. We have even joined the local MOMS club and are getting involved in thier activities. School is about to start which means my maternity leave and countdown officially begin. I am going to inservice this Thurs and Fri, but can take pumpkin with me, so that should be fun! Here are some pics that I thought you might like. More to come!

striking a pose...still got those hands over her head

hmmm...looks like she is plotting something good! lol

she is not a big fan of the bows :( this is where they usually end up when she has had enough of them!

this was her first real bath...loved the face and couldn't resist, she will hate me for this one day!! haha
